Open Access Ambassadors Conference

The Open Science Group of the PhDnet relaunched the Open Science Ambassadors (OSA) program in collaboration with Max Planck Digital Library. The conference with leading experts and interactive workshops for Max Planck Society’s early career researchers will take place online on October 18th, 2021. The N² Event 2021 brings together doctoral researchers from all across Germany through an innovative online format. It aims to prepare doctoral researchers for a sustainable research career and to provide networking opportunities across the research institutions represented by N2. [more]

Mental Health Awareness Week 2020 #BreakTheStigma

The Mental Health Collective organized an MPS-wide Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) from the 5th to 10th October 2020, in cooperation with University of Jena & Dresden Team, which includes MPI-CBG, DIGS-BB and Dresden Concept. We adopted a 100% virtual format for higher inclusivity and greater reach. There is a broad schedule of talks on the topic of mental health in academia, work/life balance, mental health issues, preventative strategies, coping mechanisms and more - something for everyone! Open Access Ambassadors Conference

PhDnet in collaboration with Max Planck Digital Library are restarting the Open Access Ambassadors (OAA) program. A conference with leading experts and interactive workshops for Max Planck Society’s early career researchers will be held 10-11 December 2019 at Harnack House in Berlin. The OAA program follows a train-the-trainer concept aiming at enabling Early stage researchers to promote open access and open science at their respective institutes. [more]

N² event: From Research to Application

The N2 Event 2019 unites selected leading scientists from academic research and industry with excellent doctoral researchers from various research fields of N2—the biggest association of doctoral researchers in Germany. In this interdisciplinary atmosphere we will have presentations, workshops and open discussions about the role of basic research and how it can contribute to and translate into commercial interest. Connecting young scientist with experienced pioneers as well as basic research with industry will contribute to mutual exchange, growing networks between disciplines and discovering new perspectives. General Meeting 2019

The General Meeting is an annual platform for doctoral researchers from MPIs all over Germany to meet and discuss local and national PhD-related issues, to learn more about the PhDNet and how it contributes to the MPS and an opportunity to meet and socialise with fellow doctoral researchers from a plethora of disciplines in an informal and relaxing environment. In addition, you will be briefly introduced to the currently operational working groups within the PhDNet and how you can be a part of them during your PhD. [more]

Mental Health Awareness Week

We organized an MPS-wide Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) from the 7th to 11th October, 2019. Each institute was encouraged to organize at least one local event during the week of the 10th of October, which is International Mental Health Awareness Day. This was accompanied by a social media campaign before and during the week to encourage attendance and raise awareness. Additionally, the MPS occupational health management (BGM) steering-group supported this initiative. [more]

Visions in Science 2018

Visions in Science is the annual interdisciplinary scientific event organized by members of the Max Planck PhDNet. The 7th Visions in Science will be held in conjunction with the Max Planck Career Fair in Berlin from the 5th to the 7th of October, 2018. We have invited leading scientists and innovative companies to create a stimulating atmosphere where young researchers can network, look for employment opportunities and discuss their visionary ideas about the future of science.
