Launch of re-structured website - to find information more easily
After intense weeks of discussions and Tuesday evening work on the PhDnet website, we are happy to launch the "re-structured" PhDnet website. We hope that important information is now accessible more intuitively.
We, the Website Taskforce (consisting of members from the PhDnet webgroup and Cornelia van Scherpenberg from the steering group) intensively worked on a new structure for the PhDnet website over the last weeks.
Information on specific topics was previously hard to find and oftentimes redundant across different pages. We tried to implement a clearer structure so that information can be found more intuitively, and streamlined the content of each page. Using icons, gifs and other visuals, we wanted to improve the overall appearance.
One great addition to our webpage is the interactive infographic about the PhDnet organisational structure (available under About the PhDnet). The figure was created by Ryan Lee Thomas from the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing. Shapes and colour schemes were inspired by PhDnet logo (created by Merel Wolf) because "consistency is essential to good aesthetic design" according to Ryan. The infographic is not only pleasing to the eye but also links to all important webpages about working groups, the steering group, information for external PhD representatives, and many more!
